People need to read further into this rather than just calling out on PETA for their outrageous portayal of Pokémon.
The moment you open the flash game, if you’re not ejecting your shit already, you notice the credit in the corner, a bunch of developers called This is Pop.
These guys created the game (and most likely all the bonus assets, save for the animal cruelty video). One look at This is Pop’s website, and you’ll see this little tidbit:
Here at Pop we love Pokémon! That’s why we always found stealing them away from their natural habitats, storing them in cramped Pokéballs, and making them fight against their will all for personal gain a little suspect. Our new PETA parody - Pokémon: Black and Blue - brings to light the plight of real world animals who are maimed, mistreated, and killed for the sake of entertainment and “sport.”
An indie game developer like This is Pop would have a sizable knowledge of Pokemon. They replicated the art style, gameplay and music pretty well. Heck, any fan would be able to pick up on the various references, from Ghetsis’ mention of the twist, speculation of Diglett’s body structure, Team Plasma and the infamous Mudkips joke.
That brings us to the inaccuracies. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure these are all done in jest and audacity. Portraying Ash as a maniac is an obvious joke on their part. Yeah, Ash actually cares about Pikachu, no shit, everyone knows this, but people still flip out at mistakes. It’s kinda like how people reacted to the Best Gamers’ videos with their OBVIOUS MISTAKES.
If you’re still not convinced the devs have a sense of humor, have a look at their clients. They have a lot more games under their sleeve and have been commissioned for other comedy-oriented clients like Adult Swim and Nickelodeon.
They don’t even list Peta for some reason.
So before you pin the blame on Peta, you need to step back and see the bigger picture here. This is Pop were merely commissioned to do this by Peta. The devs obviously know and love Pokemon and thus were very snarky about developing the game.
That said, Peta still sucks and I will be eating KFC today just to spite them

Truth. Long story short: the company commissioned to do this kinda looks like they did it all on purpose because PETA is...
